Terms of service

The short, readable rules for using GuessTheSong.io. Last updated 24 October 2026.

1. Acceptance

By visiting or playing on GuessTheSong.io you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update these terms; the date above tells you when they last changed.

2. The service

GuessTheSong.io is a free, browser-based multiplayer music quiz. We try to keep it online around the clock but it is provided "as is" without any guarantee of availability, accuracy of song data or freedom from bugs. We may change, pause or remove themes, modes or features at any time.

3. Accounts

You can play without an account. If you register, give a valid email address, keep your password private and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.

4. Behaviour in rooms

Rooms have a live chat that other players see. You agree not to:

Nicknames and chat are filtered for profanity by default. Room owners may remove players from their room. We may block players or IP addresses that break these rules.

5. Music and content

Song clips are 30-second previews supplied by Apple through the iTunes Search API and remain the property of their respective rights holders. They are streamed for the purpose of playing the game only and may not be downloaded, recorded, re-used or redistributed. Song titles, artist names and artwork belong to their owners. The GuessTheSong name, logo and site design are ours; you may not copy or reuse them without permission.

6. Advertising and links

The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense and by affiliate links. Advertisements and external links lead to third-party sites that we do not control and are not responsible for.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, GuessTheSong.io and its operator are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site, including lost data, downtime or content posted by other players. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be brought before the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise.

9. Contact
